Militza Monteverde (b.1986) is based in Stockholm and received her MFA at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. Monteverde‘s works consists largely of mixed media installations, in which she incorporates sculpture, digital video and textile to create scenes that illuminates where the technological and physical coincide. She is interested in interpretation and perception of a visual material, and treats projectors and other technical equipment as active protagonists. By intertwining industrial material, 3D-video (computer generated avatars) and embroidery Monteverde mixes roleplay with storytelling. At the end of the day the body of work can be seen as variations of her “bodily self”, blending traces of popular culture and craft to reflect on experiences of alienation, affection and community.
