Since its establishment in 2012, JARILAGER Gallery (Cologne/Seoul) has played a pivotal role as the holding company for UNION Gallery (London) and has expanded its geographic reach with the opening of its Seoul space in the Gangnam district in 2023. Jari Lager serves as director of both entities. Over the past decade, JARILAGER Gallery (Cologne/Seoul) has evolved into a distinct organisation while maintaining close collaborative ties with its sister gallery, UNION Gallery, in East London.

In addition to these ventures, Lager co-founded Choi&Lager in Cologne, a partnership that further strengthened his long-standing engagement with the Korean art scene and paved the way for the gallery’s deeper presence in Seoul. Dividing his time between London, Cologne, and Seoul, Lager has been active in the international art world for three decades. His career began at Lisson Gallery, followed by the founding of the artist-run space VTO in London’s East End in 1998. He established Union Gallery in 2003, originally located on Union Street near Tate Modern and later relocated to East London.

Since the beginning of 2022, JARILAGER Gallery has presented 28 exhibitions across its Cologne and Seoul spaces and participated in 20 international art fairs in cities including Cologne, Copenhagen, Seoul, Busan, Daegu, and Miami.
