LEIF ELGGREN - LIVET DÖDEN KONSTEN MAKTEN
BY ERIK PAUSER, 2024
Leif Elggren is one of Sweden’s most idiosyncratic artists – active for over 50 years and internationally recognized for his genre-crossing, socially critical and humorous artistry. Elggren’s work moves between performance, dance, installations and sound works, often focusing on power, belonging and the decay of the body – always with sharp irony and deep seriousness. With Lauri Perelä and the poet Bruno K. Öijer, he ran a fanzine that caught the attention of SÄPO. Together with Kent Tankred, he formed the performance group Guds Söner. He is also a co-founder of Elgaland-Vargaland – a fictional kingdom that annexes the world’s mental, geographical and digital spaces.
