Lisa LIEN Englund's weavings delve thread by thread into the visual world of nature, folklore and mythology. Her art is linked to a textile tradition but renews it by playfully and humorously introducing new motifs and elements that anchor them in and raise questions about our contemporary world. Nature and time are central to her artistry, the weaving yarns are dyed with mushrooms and plants she has collected herself. The care for both material and time creates a deep presence in the works and stands in critical relief against our accelerating contemporary world characterized by the disappearing world of the climate crisis.
