Att samla samtiden för framtiden

An exhibition about the art collection of Huddinge Municipality

August 27 – November 8, 2026

Opening August 27 at 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

The exhibition Collecting the present for the future provides an insight into Huddinge Municipality's art collection, which consists of an exciting range from older works to newly acquired contemporary art. In 2028, these works, and many more, will be placed in the new municipal building and the adjoining Signe Boye library. There will be space for over 500 works, of which 150 are new acquisitions.

The idea is that the art in the new municipal building will present both the past and the present. It reflects over 75 years of Huddinge Municipality's art purchases, shaped by previous tendencies, methods, municipal directives and economic conditions. In recent years, funds and donations have been used to make individual purchases, usually linked to exhibitions that have taken place at Fullersta Gård. In this exhibition, we will revisit some of these works, such as the photograph Minne II by Rut Hillarp.

In line with the municipality's architectural vision of reuse and sustainability for the new municipal building, the art collection is being used to contribute to an inspiring, pleasant and democratic environment. The municipal building and the new main library will together cover approximately 25,000 square meters in the middle of central Huddinge. In the new environments, art will take place both in work rooms and in the publicly accessible areas.
