Overview

The work “Lost counter-story, neither science nor Man of Man of faith.” Arise from the fascination of the television series Lost’s commercialization of the mystic logic and the civilized man’s fear of vulnerability in the wild. Another reference is the significance of the uncertainties that arise in the interface between the known and understood and the unknown and incomprehensible.

 

Johanna Gustafsson Fürst took her degree at the Royal Academy. Art School in 2003. Since then, she has worked with project-based installations in empty industrial premises. After that the works shown and documented, they have shattered. These works, “Alone Like Selina Kyles” 2004 and “It Is not Over Yet” 2007 is based on scenes from action movies marred by stereotypical gender structures.

 

Characteristic of Johanna Gustafsson Fürst works is that she often uses material downloaded directly from the places where she works. The material conceptuals through a filter, a narrative context. Authorities investigating standards and designs produced by the western culture on gender, beauty, garbage and junk culture.
