"Two unique international artists simultaneously in Stockholm"
by Magnus Bons for Dagens Nyheter, 2025-10-22
Scottish artist Karla Black works with an interesting duality. Her work at the Belenius gallery signals both elegance and dirt, and at the same time alludes to the beautification and cleansing of the body.
The latter activity includes two upright objects on the floor. They are made from the doors of a shower cabin that have been pressed together, and where unconventional materials such as Vaseline, lip gloss and eyeshadow form shapeless spots in the glass. A fun effect with the pastel-colored scum that is kept enclosed between the plates, but the traces that are formed are too randomly vague for the works to engage.
